We are looking for an experienced, take-charge professional with excellent organizational and administrative skills to join our conference team.
Principal Duties
Conference Coordinator:
Assist with negotiations for space contracts, conduct site inspections and book event space.
Arrange food and beverage orders for each event, order supplies, reserve and research audiovisual equipment, make travel arrangements.
Conduct competition research, create and revise room layouts for each event.
Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters.
Assist with managing on-site support, set-up and clean up for each event.
Prepare and assist with the preparation of nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc.
Liaise with speakers, arrange and conducting conference calls as required.
Corporate Accounts Coordinator:
Set up and maintain corporate client accounts as required.
Perform monthly A/R reconciliation and follow up with corporate accounts as required.
Maintain and update corporate accounts files, invoices and research.
Qualifications
Post Secondary Education with a degree/diploma in Event Planning or equivalent (mandatory) and minimum one year previous related experience.
Skills
Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access; ability to use mail merges; email and web searches.
Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
Able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them on schedule.
Team player and willing to help out and perform additional tasks when required.
Starting salary is $46,452.26 plus a competitive single benefits package.

Legal Editor/Conference Developer and Researcher in Labour, Employment and Human Rights Law

Prepare reviews and analyses of decisions and legislation.
Develop ideas for conference programs and topics, based on research of case law, legislative developments, academic journals and trade publications.
Write conference brochures and programme material.
Liaise with speakers and advisory committees on current issues.
Qualifications
LL.B. or J.D. (mandatory). Experience in the field of labour, employment and/or human rights law (preferred but not mandatory)
Skills
Adept at formulating an overview, yet precise in matters of detail.
Able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them on schedule.
Capable of working independently while staying connected with colleagues.
Proficient in MS Office Suite and Outlook, and in legal research using Quicklaw, CanLII and other legal databases.

The successful candidate is likely to be an individual who has a strong interest in labour, employment and human rights law; possesses the ability to identify and analyze current trends and developments, and to interview leading practitioners and experts in the field; displays strong verbal and written communication skills; enjoys work that is creative as well as analytical; exhibits, to a marked degree, energy and empathy; and can work quickly and accurately while maintaining a sense of humour.
Starting salary is $60,000, or as commensurate with qualifications.
