THE ISSUES:

Some of the questions to be addressed:

  • What are the essential elements of a fair and effective interview? In respect of job applications? Performance appraisals? Promotions?
  • What defects in the interview process will result in invalidation of the results by arbitrators or tribunals?
  • What questions must be avoided in order to comply with human rights and privacy legislation?
  • How should interviews be scripted and marked in order to minimize subjective evaluation by members of the interviewing panel?
  • Are employees entitled to review the notes of interviewers? The marking scheme? Their marks?
  • When should members of the interviewing panel step aside on the ground of bias or the appearance of bias?

Here's what participants said about Lancaster's previous audio conferences:

"Good value for money. We had a number of us on the call for a very low price and we did not have to travel."
Leslie Kerr, Regional Manager, Human Resources, Ryder Logistics and Transportation

"Excellent. Provided good, useful information. The technology was great!!!"
Colleen Ionson, Labour Relations Officer, Ontario Nurses' Association
