
| | Raj Anand is a partner with WeirFoulds LLP, where he practises in the areas of human rights, constitutional and administrative law, labour relations, civil litigation, professional negligence and discipline. He is a former Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission and an adjudicator under the Human Rights Code and Police Services Act. He represents several self-governing regulatory bodies, and sits on the Hearings Tribunal of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Raj
has acted for a variety of parties in public interest litigation and commissions of inquiry. In the past, he has served on the boards of directors of several non-profi t organizations, including the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, two community clinics, Legal Aid Ontario, the Advocates’ Society, the University of Toronto Law Alumni Council and Pro Bono Law Ontario, and as President of the last two organizations. Raj received the Advocates’ Society’s Award of Justice in 1997, and the Law Society Medal in 2003, and was named Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce Professional Man of the Year in 2008. In
2007, he was elected by the profession to a four-year term as a bencher of the Law Society, and in April 2008 he was appointed by the Province of Ontario as the fi rst Chair of its Human Rights Legal Support Centre. |
