| | Professor
Harry Arthurs became the first recipient of the Bora Laskin Award recognizing
distinguished contributions to Canadian labour law on May 7, 2003. Professor Arthurs
currently holds the title of University Professor at York University, and pursues
research in the developing role of labour law in a globalized world. His distinguished
career, which began as a student of Bora Laskin at the University of Toronto Law
School, includes achievements as a professor, author, and arbitrator. He has served
as President of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, Dean of Law at Osgoode
Hall Law School, and President of York University. Professor Arthurs has been
recognized by many other honours, including the Killam Prize for career achievement
in social sciences, and as an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of the
Royal Society of Canada. |
