| Michael Coady is a partner at the law firm Harris & Company where he represents employers. Michael has 25 years of experience in all aspects of labour and employment law. His practice is primarily focused on labour relations, employment law, and human rights matters. Acting exclusively on the employer side in labour relations matters, Michael has appeared in major cases before the B.C. Labour Relations Board and the Canada Industrial Relations Board. His experience as counsel encompasses such matters as common employer and successorship applications, unfair labour practice charges, certifications and decertifications, and strikes and picketing complaints. Michael regularly defends clients in human rights complaints and advises in wrongful dismissal situations. He has obtained injunctions against unlawful strikes and picketing, and has appeared at all levels of the judicial system. Michael was admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1974, followed by two years working for then Chair of the B.C. Labour Relations Board, Paul Weiler. Michael graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University with a Master of Laws in labour law in 1976, having previously obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University Law School in 1972. |
