DR. MERV GILBERT, R. Psych


 

Dr. Merv Gilbert is currently a principal partner with Gilbert Acton, organizational health consultants. Gilbert Acton enables organizations to create psychologically healthy climates through valid methods of assessment, consultation, coaching, training and evaluation. His main interest and practice is in the area of psychologically healthy workplaces. Merv has worked as a leader and psychologist for over twenty years. He has worked in both private and institutional health care settings providing opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, program development, research and teaching. He has served in leadership roles at regional, provincial and international levels, and he has held a senior administrative position at a major teaching hospital. Merv holds academic appointments at Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia. He continues to assist a number of professional and non-profit organizations, sitting on the BC and Global Business and Economic Roundtables on Mental health and Addictions. He has published in national and international
professional journals. He is frequently contacted by the media and has presented in a diverse array of forums on the importance of workplace mental health issues for individuals and organizations. Merv is the coauthor of ‘Depression and Work Function’ (2002) and ‘Antidepressant Skills at Work: Dealing with Mood Problems in the Workplace’ (2007).
