RAFAEL GOMEZ


 

Rafael Gomez is Associate Professor in Industrial Relations and Human Resources (University of Toronto). He currently holds a cross-appointment at Woodsworth College and the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources. He received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from York University (Glendon College), and an M.A. in Economics and Ph.D in Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto. After graduating in 2000, he went on to teach at the London School of Economics as a Senior Lecturer in Management. He has been invited to conduct research and lecture in universities and research institutes around the world, including in such cities as Madrid, Moscow, Munich and Zurich. He has worked with both public and private sector organizations on various research projects and has presented his findings at over 50 national and international conferences.

Rafael has published in numerous journals, including the British Journal of Industrial Relations, Journal of Population Economics, Canadian Public Policy, and the Canadian Journal of Economics. In January 2006, he was awarded the Labor and Employment Relations Association's 2005 John T. Dunlop Outstanding Scholar Award for exceptional contributions to international and comparative labor and employment research. He is also currently the Director and Co-founder of ThinkTankToronto (TTT), a social enterprise established in 2005, whose mandate is to document, study and promote cultural innovation in the City of Toronto and other urban locations around the globe.
