Michael Gottheil, a prominent Ottawa lawyer, was appointed as Chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario in April 2005. Mr. Gottheil co-founded the law firm of Engelmann Gottheil in 1991, which focused primarily on labour relations, human rights and employment law. He has also been counsel for the United Steelworkers of America, a professor of law at Algonquin College and the University of Ottawa, and vice-president of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers, and has served as the Vice-Chair and Director of the Ontario Division Board of Directors for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Mr. Gottheil received his LL.B from Osgoode Hall in 1985, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987.
