MICHELLE HENRY

Michelle Henry is a partner in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. She is a member of BLG’s Labour & Employment Group, as well as the Pension & Benefits Group. Michelle advises clients on various employment-related matters, including workplace restructuring, employment contracts, employee terminations, discipline, workers’ compensation, occupational health and safety, employment standards and human rights. She represents clients in employment-related litigation, including wrongful dismissals, injunctions and proceedings before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. She acts on behalf of employers in grievance arbitrations, before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and in collective bargaining.

On the pension side, Michelle advises clients on various pension and benefits-related matters, including statutory obligations under pension and benefits legislation, plan amendments, plan conversions and litigation. She also provides pension and benefits due diligence advice in corporate transactions.

Michelle has authored numerous articles on labour, employment, education and pension topics. She is a member of BLG’s National Diversity Committee, and BLG’s Pro Bono Committee. She is a past Board member and a current Committee member of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Pension & Benefits Institute. She volunteers with Volunteer Legal Services, and is also an Alumni Representative for St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto.
