| David Hill is a Barrister and Solicitor with the City of Vancouver Law Department. David’s dual interests in law and technology have intertwined since his call to the Bar in 1984. In the 1980s, he moved from practising law to serve as the Coordinator of Computer Education for BC CLE. He then worked as a technology consultant, and later as both an associate and the technology director in a large Vancouver firm. He now practises labour, employment and human rights law in the City of Vancouver’s Law Department.
David has made numerous presentations on the use of technology in law for organizations such as the CBA, CLE, the UBC Law School, and at national and international conferences. He is a keen supporter of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), and plans to give a presentation at ILTA’s annual conference in August (tentatively entitled “Is The Sky Really Falling”), as a counter-point to the notion that technology is about to make lawyers obsolete . He is also a proponent of Free and Open Source Software, and is investigating ways to use Open Source in practice |
