Andrew
King is the national health, safety, and environment co-ordinator and department
leader for the United Steelworkers, a trade union representing over
180,000 workers across Canada. On behalf of the union, Andy has participated in
inquests and public inquiries, research and regulatory reform, and has developed
educational programs. He began his career in 1979 as a community legal worker
in a legal aid clinic representing injured workers and joined the Steelworkers
in 1989 after eight years in private law practice. He was the OFL WCB training
co-ordinator in 1992-93 and the executive director of a workers occupational
health clinic in Toronto in 1999-2000. Andy is also a member of the Canadian Labour
Congress health and safety and environment committees, and a Board member
of the National Institute for Disability Management and Research since 1995. |
