David Law is a partner at Emond Harnden, a law firm advising Canadian employers on labour, employment and workplace law in both official languages. David is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Osgoode Hall Law School, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988. He heard appeal cases in the Ontario workers' compensation system for over 5 years, was a policy adviser and senior planner for the Ontario WCB in the 1990s, an advisor to the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia WCB, and research counsel to the Royal Commission on Workers' Compensation in British Columbia. David's practice at Emond Harnden has a particular focus on issues of occupational health and safety, disability, accommodation, workers' compensation and labour relations. His clients include
private and public enterprises.
A Sessional Member of the Faculty of Law at Queen's University, Mr. Law is a frequent author and public speaker on matters of labour, employment and workplace law. Mr. Law has spoken at conferences organized by Lancaster House, the HRPAO, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Advocates' Society, and many private client functions. His publications include two chapters in the University of Toronto Press text Workers' Compensation: Foundations for Reform. Mr. Law is the former Chair of Government Relations for the HRPAO, former Chair of Government Relations for the Canadian Council of Human Resource Associations and is active in a variety of community and public interest activities. |
