Ian Mackenzie is an arbitrator, mediator and trainer. He has been adjudicating and mediating employment-related disputes for ten years. Ian has been actively involved in the training of tribunal members. He is also active in the Ontario Bar Association and has been a member of OBA Council since 2010. He is a member of the Ontario Labour Management Arbitrators Association.
Ian was called to the Ontario Bar in 1992 and has worked in private practice, for federal public service unions and as counsel with the Department of Justice. He is a former Vice-Chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (2011-2012), former Vice-Chair of the Public Service Labour Relations Board (2005-2011), and was a member of the Public Service Staff Relations Board (2002-2005).
He is the author of the chapter on union rights and responsibilities in Collective Agreement Arbitration in Canada, 4th edition and has written and lectured extensively on labour relations and administrative law.
