Jan O'Brien is a staff representative in the advocacy department of the BC Government and Service Employees' Union ("BCGEU") in Vancouver, B.C. Prior to joining the BCGEU in 2006, Ms. O'Brien was a Vice-Chair at the BC Labour Relations Board for six years. She first joined the BC LRB in 1991 as a part-time member from the labour community. Her extensive experience in elected and staff positions in the trade union movement includes leading collective bargaining in the newspaper industry and handling grievances through to arbitration. Ms. O'Brien has a BA from the University of BC and a MBA from Simon Fraser University. |
