Allen Ponak is a full time arbitrator with offices in Calgary and Saskatoon. He is a named arbitrator in a number of national and regional collective agreements, is part time Vice-Chair of the federal Public Service Labour Relations Board, and has chaired both rights and interest arbitrations. Since starting his arbitration practice in 1984, Allen has gained experience in all sectors of the economy and has issued more than 500 awards. Many of his decisions have been reported in Labour Arbitration Cases and are cited in Leading Cases on Arbitration (Lancaster House). He is the author of numerous articles, book chapters, and textbooks on union-management relations. In 1992, he was admitted to the National Academy of Arbitrators, where he is currently a vice-president. Until June 2006, Allen was a professor of industrial relations at the University of Calgary. He now holds professor emeritus status in that institution and in 2010 was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2006, his film Beyond Collision: High Integrity Labour Relations won the Silver Screen award at the Los Angeles International Film and Video Festival. |
