Allen Ponak is a full time arbitrator based in Calgary. He has arbitrated in all sectors of the economy in both provincial and federal jurisdictions. He is a named arbitrator in a number of national and regional collective agreements and many of his decisions have been reported in Labour Arbitration Cases and cited in Leading Cases in Arbitration. In 1992, he was admitted to the National Academy of Arbitrators, has served on its Board of Governors, and is vice-chair of the Canadian region. Allen Ponak founded and has chaired an influential annual Labour Arbitration and Policy Conference in Calgary since its inception on 1983. Until June 2006, he was a professor of industrial relations at the University of Calgary and the author of numerous articles, book chapters, and textbooks on union-management relations. He now holds professor emeritus status in that institution. |
