Dawn Ricker-Vassos is the Safe Workplace Advocate for Hôtel Dieu-Grace Hospital in Windsor, Ontario. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Windsor in 1991, Dawn became the founding Coordinator of the Windsor Essex Supervised Access Project. She also co-created and founded the Learning About Divorce (1994) and Caring About Parenting (1995) programmes. In 1999, she was appointed the Executive Director of Victim Services of Windsor and Essex County and was responsible for overseeing the operation of multiple programmes designed to help victim survivors.
She was responsible for writing the psycho-social disaster plan for the City of Windsor and was instrumental in facilitating the community response and healing following a multi-vehicle 401 accident. Under her direction, Victim Services was awarded the O.P.P. Commissioners Citation for Outstanding Community Service (2000) and the Essex County Non-Profit Excellency award (2005). |
