Paula Rusak has been a partner at Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark LLP since 1986. Paula specializes in the representation of management in all areas of labour relations and employment law. In addition to appearing regularly as counsel before various
administrative tribunals, she is involved, either as advisor or spokesperson for management, in collective bargaining
negotiations with unions. Her clients include a broad range of employers including the health sector, social services sector,
public sector, municipalities and manufacturing. In addition, Paula’s practice has a particular focus on matters relating to
human rights. She has authored a chapter for an American legal textbook on how sexual harassment has been dealt with throughout Canada. She acts as counsel to employers and management employees facing claims of human rights violations. Apart from defending employers, she provides proactive advice on the development of policies and strategies to effectively deal with human rights issues. This also includes being retained to provide training for employees and management with regard to such matters as anti-harassment/discrimination, violence in the workplace, duty to accommodate, and attendance
control, discipline and the like. Additionally, she is retained to conduct investigations into allegations of discrimination in the workplace and to present reports and recommendations. |
