Karen Scott is a partner at the law firm Seveny Scott where she advises and represents unions and associations before labour relations boards, arbitrators, and the Courts. Karen also advises and represents individual employees in all aspects of employment law, including wrongful and constructive dismissal claims, and related human rights issues. Karen has considerable litigation experience involving the Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and maintains a civil litigation practice related to her labour and employment practice. She has appeared as counsel before the Alberta Labour Relations Board, the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench,the Alberta Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
Karen graduated with Distinction from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law, where she sat on the editorial board of the Alberta Law Review and worked as an editor and researcher at the Centre for Constitutional Studies. She won first prize in the Alberta Court of Appeal Moot, and second prize in the national Matthews, Dinsdale & Clark Labour Arbitration Moot. After graduating from law school, Karen clerked at the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench and Alberta Court of Appeal prior to entering private practice. |
