| | Rhonda Shirreff is an associate at Heenan Blaikie LLP in Toronto. Her practice is focused exclusively on management-side labour and employment law. She advises public and private sector employers on a diverse range of matters, including employment standards, employment and contractor agreements, human rights, accommodation and workers' compensation. Rhonda is particularly interested in the rapidly developing area of workplace privacy law, especially when it relates to background checks, electronic surveillance and biometrics in the workplace and the transborder flow of employee personal information. She regularly helps employers develop policies and strategies that strike an appropriate balance between employee privacy interests and the employer's legitimate need to collect, use and disclose information concerning the workplace.
Rhonda writes and speaks regularly on issues related to workplace privacy, human rights and employment standards. She has lectured to graduate classes at the Schulich School of Business at York University and the University of Toronto Centre for Industrial Relations and has also taught advance labour and employment law as a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. In addition, she is the editor of the Heenan Blaikie Ontario Labour and Employment Newsletter.
