LEE SHOULDICE

Lee Shouldice is a partner in the Labour and Employment Law Group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, counselling employers in all areas of employment and labour law, with special expertise in labour relations matters, wrongful dismissal litigation, employment standards disputes, occupational health and safety proceedings, and human rights complaints. Mr. Shouldice has acted as both an arbitrator and as a nominee on boards of arbitration. He first joined Blakes in 1989, and worked in the Labour and Employment Law Group until September 1993, at which time he was appointed to the Ontario Labour Relations Board as a Vice-Chair. Mr. Shouldice served as a Vice-Chair of the Board until February 1999. From December 1996 to February 1999, Mr. Shouldice also served as an Employment Standards Referee/Adjudicator and as an Occupational Health and Safety Adjudicator. Mr. Shouldice rejoined Blakes in February 1999, and was admitted to the partnership in February 2000. Mr. Shouldice was for many years a contributing editor to Carswell’s Human Resources Management In Canada and Human Resources Management In Mid-Sized Firms, where he both wrote and edited the Employment Standards and Labour Relations materials, and is a member of the Editorial Board of Butterworth’s Employment and Labour Law Reporter. He teaches at George Brown College, speaks regularly at conferences on labour and employment law topics, and has presented seminars on numerous labour and employment law matters for clients of the firm. Mr. Shouldice received an undergraduate degree from Carleton University in 1982, his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1985, and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1987.
