Ron Smith is a National Representative with CAW-Canada. He represents members in the healthcare, hospitality, airlines and university sectors. Ron worked in the Air and Navigation system for Transport Canada from 1979 to 1995. In 1995, he was elected President of the Air Traffic Specialists Association of Canada (ATSAC), representing flight service specialists across Canada. Ron was actively involved in the transition of the Air Navigation System from the Federal Government to NAV CANADA in 1996. When ATSAC merged with CAW-Canada in 2000, Ron joined the CAW. He has negotiated in excess of 70 collective agreements. In addition, he played a major role in the negotiation of the MAGNA-CAW Framework of Fairness Agreement.
