Pierre Verge was awarded the Bora Laskin Award recognizing distinguished contributions
to Canadian labour law in 2004. Professor Verge is Professor Emeritus at the Faculty
of Law, University of Laval, where he continues his research interest in international
labour law. He is currently a member of the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire
sur la mondialisation et le travail (CRIMT), a research network funded by the
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Fonds québécois
de la recherche sur la société et la culture. Professor Verge studied
at the University of Toronto (LL.M.) and Laval (LL.D), and was called to the Bar
in Quebec in 1961. He was Dean of the Faculty of Law at Laval from 1973 to 1977,
President of the Canadian Association of Law Professors, and a Fellow of the Royal
Society of Canada since 1986. Recent
