In this day-long interactive session a panel of experts will explore responses to employee absenteeism and how unions and employers can ensure that legal requirements are met, including:
 
  • Designing and administering effective Attendance Management Policies
  • Distinguishing between culpable and non-culpable absenteeism
  • How to treat absences caused by workplace injuries, disabilities, child and family care obligations, and emergency leave days
  • Establishing enforceable requirements for attendance
  • The rules governing medical certificates
  • The scope of the duty to accommodate employee disability
  • The right to terminate employment for innocent absenteeism
